Under the general supervision of the Police Chief, the Captain of Administration reviews and evaluates departmental records and operations, and ensures the availability of timely, accurate, and complete records, information and services to staff and line personnel. The Administrative Captain is also responsible for the supervision and coordination of the programs of the units under his command, and shall be responsible for the efficient performance of required duties in conformance with the rules, regulations and policies of the Northampton Police Department.

In the absence of the Chief of Police, a Captain may assume additional powers, duties and responsibilities determined by the Chief of Police.
